Gault Millau 2013: Grand Hotel Wien celebrates four toques
October 22nd, 2012
The most important Austrian gourmet guide Gault Millau has awarded two toques each to the Grand Hotel Wien Gourmet Restaurants Unkai and Le Ciel. With these ratings in the 2013 issue of the guide the two restaurants have once again reasserted their positions among the best restaurants in town.
"We are truly excited about this honor that we consider a recognition of our many years of high level performance. I want to extent my warmest congratulations to my two chefs Jacqueline Pfeiffer and Hiroshi Sakai and their teams," states Siegfried Pucher, F&B Director of the Grand Hotel Wien. "But however exciting and flattering this recognition may be, our daily effort does not aim at awards but on the day to day satisfaction of our guests. And for that we will continue to even further improve ourselves next year."
Le Ciel with chef de cuisine Jacqueline Pfeiffer
Quote from the Gault Millau 2013: "Jacqueline Pfeiffer has a
reputation of offering a great, classical cuisine with
well-tempered experiments. And on the day of our visit she indeed
offered a light, straight forward cuisine."
Unkai with chef de cuisine Hiroshi Sakai
Quote from the Gault Millau 2013: "Teppanyaki, Sushi-Lunch,
Shabu-Shabu, Sukiyaki - there is no other Japanese Restaurant in
Vienna with such manifold culinary offers. But the true art of chef
de cuisine Hirsohi Sakai presents itself with the enjoyment of one
of his Kaiseki-Menus. […] If one would like to explore the Japanese
culinary world even further, it is worth a try to listen to the
recommendations of Austria's only sake sommeliere."
